Mathematical models for epidemics with illustrations for Covid-19

ABSTRACT

In the talk I will first give a short introduction to mathematical models for disease spreading. After this I will briefly describe three problems I have been working on. 1. Optimal prevention: investigating when and how strong restrictions should be imposed for optimal effect. 2. Herd immunity: investigating what is the necessary immunity coverage of immunity comes from vaccination vs disease exposure. 3. Generation times: inference problems and effects when estimates are biased.
